Missing The Hoedown Spirit?

Are you missing the spirit of the Lost Sierra Hoedown? We are too! So this morning we’re posting this throwback video of Willy Tea Taylor from the 2014 event. It will bring you right back to the Johnsville Ski Bowl. We’re also throwing out the code “WILLY”, which will get you 10% off on this year’s leftover merchandise in the online store. There’s still a pretty good selection when it comes to various tee shirts, but not if you wait too long!

The 2016 Lost Sierra Hoedown Is Four Days Away

As the seasons change from summer to fall this Thursday, the fourth Lost Sierra Hoedown will get underway. Tickets will be available online through Wednesday at midnite. There will likely be some tickets available at the box office as well. If you’re friends haven’t bought their tickets yet, it’s time to give them that final nudge.

We’re also closing in on filling up our volunteer staff for this year. If you signed up to volunteer but haven’t received your schedule yet, let us know you’re still interested. If you haven’t yet signed up, there’s still some shifts to cover late nights, Sunday and Monday. We’re finalizing that schedule on Tuesday. See the Volunteer page for more info.

Abalone Grey releases tour documentary.

Ever wonder how a band comes to be? What it’s like to go on tour?

This short documentary covers our friends Abalone Grey as they set out on their first tour in 2015. The final stop is The Lost Sierra Hoedown, where good times and super jams commence. The Hoedown segment comes at about 16:00, but the whole film is a great watch. This video was crafted with style and grace by digital arts extraordinaire, Ian Spilman.

“I just felt super lucky and super blessed to have my daughter experience something so family friendly and so loving, and everybody is just an incredibly talented musician.” – Kat Factor on the Lost Sierra Hoedown.

Last Minute Letter About A Hoedown

Hello Everybody!

First of all, congratulations on purchasing a ticket to the second ever Lost Sierra Hoedown. The staff here at Lost Sierra would like to express tremendous gratitude for supporting our event and the Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl. We have been working hard to make sure this Hoedown is legendary and unforgettable. Here’s a couple last minute reminders to maximize your fun and minimize impact on the Plumas-Eureka State Park. Remember, it’s a Hoedown not a music festival, so prepare for something a little different.

Make sure to fill up those cars folks. We are going to have A LOT of people enjoying this Hoedown and minimal parking. Once the Ski Bowl parking is full, you can park alongside the road as long as you’re not crossing the white line. The better we all do at carpooling the easier parking will be!

Please drive safely on your way to Johnsville. If you have to drive at night, go slow and keep a sharp eye out for wildlife. Also, make sure you plan to arrive when our gates are open! See website for Gate Schedule and Cody Express Gear Shuttle schedule. When you finally arrive at the town of Johnsville, please drive extra slow! The speed limit is 25mph, but if you’re cool you’ll go 18. When you arrive at the gate, have your ID’s ready to go, that’s how you’ll get your ticket.

Campers! Make sure to read our camping guide at LostSierraHoedown.com. On-site camping is first come first serve, and be ready for some close neighbors! As always, we are all in this together. On-site camping is free, but if you are looking for more space and quiet time, Plumas-Eureka State Park campground is OPEN.

The weather is looking awesome, especially compared to last year! Still, we are in the mountains, and prepare for the worst. We’ve been seeing hot days and cold nights.

It’s up to you to manage your own trash, Pack it in Pack it out! We can handle compost and recycling. Beer and food vendors are on site! 100% of beer sales go to supporting the ski hill so bring some cash to fill up your pint cups with cold frosty brews from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the Brewing Lair.

We look forward to see you all very soon! In the meantime, study up on LostSierraHoedown.com so you are prepared for maximum success!

Pint Cups in your hand! Again!

Thanks to UnofficialAlpine.com and the Sierra Nevada College Student Government Association, every guest of the Lost Sierra Hoedown will receive a FREE Klean Kanteen stainless steel pint cup. Cheers to that!

In the Hoedown’s inaugural year, our effort to provide reusable cups was a huge success! We eliminated single use plastic cups from our event, and dramatically reduced our waste.

A huge thanks goes out to UnofficialAlpine.com and the Sierra Nevada College Student Government Association for putting these cups in your hand, FOR FREE! We hope you cherish your new Hoedown souvenir and use in your life year round!

For those of you that weren’t around last year, here’s some pro tips to make the most out of your new special cups!

• Stainless Steel pint cups work great for cold beverages! Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, water or apple juice, you name it. But if you pour fiery hot liquid in there, a burning sensation is likely to be experienced in your hands. Stainless steel conducts heat.

• Bring your own “koozie”, “huggie”, “can-cooler”, ‘beer sleeve” or “holdie coldie”. Whatever you want to call it, bring something to hold your cup in, it will help you distinguish your pint cup from everyone else’s. If your “cozy” is thick enough, you can even enjoy HOT beverages too!

• If you do not have a fabric sleeve to decorate your cup and insulate your beverage, we will provide a marker so you can write your name on your cup. CHEERS!

• Pint Rings and carabiners are available at our Merchandise tent. Purchase these accessories and you can clip your cup to stuff!
